The guy behind
the name
I am Finley-Marian Hartmann — film editor, colorist and sound editor. I am the guy who stares at skin tones longer than is probably healthy, moves cuts by two frames, and gets a little too excited when image, rhythm and sound suddenly click.
Most of the time I sit somewhere between "this is actually good" and "wait, one more pass". I love post-production exactly when it does not shout, but quietly makes something rounder, denser, or a tiny bit more right.
"Schnittgott" is German for "god of the cut" — a nickname that stuck. Seven years in film took me through every department — camera assistance, lighting, sound, directing — until it was clear where I belong: the suite. Home base is Rottweil in Baden-Württemberg, southern Germany; my clients are anywhere. Divine restraint included, naturally.

Apprenticeship in Audiovisual Media
Started at EO Film — real client projects for industrial market leaders from day one: camera, lighting, editing, sound.
2021
First films of my own
"Der Koffer" (Kiyofilm Production): editing, camera and co-directing on a featurette — and the realization that post-production is where I belong.
2022
Youth Film Award BW — Best Editing
The edit of "Der Koffer" wins the Youth Film Award of Baden-Württemberg. Graduation, then staying on as editor & colorist at EO Film.
2023
Colorist by conviction
Grading becomes the focus: my own DaVinci Resolve Studio setup with Mini Panel, more than 20 graded productions for world market leaders in machine and plant engineering.
2026
Independent as SCHNITTGOTT
After EO Film closed its doors, the consequent step: my own post-production for brands, industry and production companies — worldwide, with a production partner for complete film projects.
